standing at 6'2, she's a rather handsome lady with a strong build and a stronger personality. she's deeper in complexion, with pale hair typically pulled back into a braid; a useless one at that, considering it never actually keeps her hair up and out of her face.people say the most striking thing about her are her eyes. sharp and knowing, they possess a mischief that sparkle nearly twice as much as the gold of her iris. only one bears this color, however—as the other is more reminiscent of silver, the color altered when that jagged scar on her eye came to be, many assume.they say the only thing more lethal than her bullets is that smirk of hers. paired with a wink, it's a deadly combination—and infinitely more useful if her face wasn't so quick to warm and that bravado of hers crumbling into a bashful grin.

PERSONALITY

most wouldn't see her as suspicious whatsoever. when she isn't at work, there's hardly a moment when a wide smile isn't decorating her face. expressive almost to a fault, she's loud and easy to fluster, overtly casual with anybody and everybody she meets.
it's what makes it so jarring when she is at work. like an entirely different person---quiet and analytical, that one eye of hers sharp and glaring.
what's the real her, then? haha, who's to say? she'd argue they're both facets of her, just acting how she needs to when necessary. she's still just as observant when she's acting as her day-to-day self, and just as playful when she needs to get something done ... but, of course, it comes off as her being a rather threatening tease.
haha. really, you don't need to take anything she says seriously... that is, until that gun of hers is at your throat.

"yer starin' again."
golden light illuminated her figure as she sat up, tousling her hair. the dark-haired lady she'd laid next to stammered an excuse—murmuring this and that about her curiosity. a laugh shakes her body, and yaretzi returns beneath the covers, head propped up with an arm. a lazy smile remains on her face, a twinkle in her eye."tha's it? my story, is it? mmm..."
"it ain' somethin' pretty ladies like yerself wanna hear. you sure?"when she looks away, there's a quiet contemplation in her eyes—debating if now's the time, if she should really share. yaretzi isn't one for hiding—no, she'd much rather confront things head on. still ..."awright. no need ta beg, darlin'."she never had much. it was her and her mother, mostly, and the people that would come and go, leaving her mom more and more like a shell of herself by the day.

it wasn't much. it was special, though—despite everything, she thought life was alright. even if all they had was each other, yaretzi didn't mind—after all, it meant they had each other. she'd always been dog-like in that way, doing anything for the people she loved. she never expected to grow up into a wolf instead.her first kill was at fourteen. a crazy ex, she was told—one she'd later discovered was a debtor—broke into their little home. he screamed and threatened her mom, and, without thinking, she just did what was necessary; protecting her mama.most girls would've cried. they would've tried to protect who they loved—but certainly not by any means necessary. they wouldn't have attacked an assailant without any sort of reservation, they wouldn't have ignored the blood on their hands in favor of another.yaretzi recalls never being looked at the same after that.

her mom was a kind woman. she'd never admit fearing her own daughter, but yara knew—that look in her eyes. she knew that she'd acted abnormally, that she'd acted monstrously, and through the shaking in her hands, she knew she'd do it again and again so long as her mama remained safe.her mama was a kind woman. it meant she was incapable of protecting herself.
it meant that yaretzi had to take up the mantle; and that was okay.guilt was a fickle emotion when faced with the only good thing you know taking every hit and never returning it. when faced with someone who, in spite of everything, never even cursed god for their misfortune.not fighting back meant succumbing to torture, and that was a fate she couldn't allow.

time and time again, her mother would fall into that pattern. of getting hurt, and refusing to bite back.so yara got used to biting for her, until her mama's little girl wasn't so little, and until her mama hardly recognized the girl she raised any longer.she'd fuss and tut over the young girl, saying all of this stress was going to eventually be the death of her.sometimes yaretzi wonders if it was; that her ever-so-kindhearted mother finally worried herself into sickness. even then she refused to fight, leaving the girl to pick up the slack once more.anything to save her mother.

yara began picking up odd jobs to pay for doctors, medicine, anything. each and every day it'd barely be enough for even the cheapest services, and each and every day she'd come home to her mother's bedside who only continued to look more and more corpse-like by the day.she was desperate. she needed more money, she needed a proper doctor, she needed—she needed her mama again.
but mama wasn't here. so again she'd work, throwing herself at anything—until she found herself bartending for some seedy looking place. it was the highest she'd been paid so far—the only requirement being that she had to be completely anonymous about the job.it was there she discovered other ... more lucrative means of getting hired. her thoughts drifted towards that despicable man she'd once stabbed, then drifted again to her mother, slowly succumbing to death.

anything she could do, she would. yaretzi's days, though much livelier now—were filled with that same routine. going to work at the crack of dawn and returning home to her mom, begging for her to just hold on a little longer.it worked. she was finally able to afford real doctors, real medicine, and finally, finally, things seemed to be looking up.she'd hold her mother's hand and talk until they'd both fallen asleep. yara would talk about all the money she's making—her mother would chastise her, saying she shouldn't be slaving away like this at this age.she'd talk about what she'd do with the money once her mother got better. she'd get the both of them a house, pay off all of their debts, and, now that yara was older, she could properly give her mother anything she wanted. just say the word, she'd say with that grin of hers. just say the word.

is it so much of a surprise that it was all in vain?yaretzi returned home one day. she held her mama's hand, talked about the people she'd met that day, and willed away the panic that rose in her chest upon realizing she couldn't feel a pulse.nothing matters, she'd think, grief settling heavy in her chest. yara tried to ignore the joy of freedom in the back of her mind—it didn't mean she had to continue on like this. fighting for somebody who wouldn't fight for herself—but that was selfish. it was a selfish thought.her thoughts felt so loud, now that there was nobody to tell her that they were wrong.she was free now, though. free to do what she wanted, free to no longer stress over her mother—something she hadn't realized she'd started doing until there was finally a moment to breathe.

she didn't know what exactly to do, though. so she continued on with life in the same pattern she did previous. but rather than waiting for her mother to get better, to say the word—rather than waiting for someone else to come along and take care of her, she'd do it herself.that house she mentioned before still sounded nice. perhaps she'd purchase instead an acre of land—settle down eventually and take care of her own fields, someday fill that flask of hers with homemade whiskey. perhaps a bit cliche, but a life of mundanity was something that she thought was just fine for her.like before, though, money was the issue. so until she'd saved up enough for that farmhouse she'd been thinking of, the life she'd built would have to continue.of course, she could go back to doing regular work ... but she valued money and efficiency much more than safety, all things considered.

her eye refocuses on the black-haired vixen, idle curiosity turned suddenly into shock—then horror. it suddenly occurred to yaretzi that she'd just admitted to murder along with a string of other crimes—not just in the past, but as something she was actively doing.
she should probably do something about that. the girl looked like she was about to blow—whether that be in the form of tears or screaming, yaretzi wasn't too keen on finding out."ryder, right? 'reckon i'll name that pup of mine after ya. ain' talk to a pretty lady 'bout that kinda stuff in a while. but y'were listenin' right?
